Google Chat Integration Guide
After creating an agent, you need to connect it to a channel where it can be used.
A channel is where you interact with the agent through chat to send commands.
Currently, Refinder AI Agent supports Google Chat (Slack is not yet supported but will be available soon).
This guide explains how to connect your Refinder AI Agent to Google Chat.
Step 1. Install the Refinder AI App for Google Chat
To use Refinder AI Agent in Google Chat, you must first install the Refinder AI app:
3. Open the email and click the [Getting started] button at the bottom. Clicking the link will take you back to the page where you can complete your sign-up verification.
4. Enter your name and password, then click [Next] to complete account creation.
Set Up Workspace
If you finish to set up your account, you need to create a workspace. Workspace is a place where you can invite people to collaborate, create and deploy agents, and integrate business applications.
1. Set your workspace name and address.
※ The workspace address is automatically generated based on the workspace name, but you can customize them separately if needed.
2. If you have colleagues who will use Refinder with you, enter their email addresses to send invitations.
If there are no users to invite, click [Get Started] to start using Refinder immediately.
※ To invite multiple users at once, click [+Invite Multiple Users]
Create an Agent
An agent executes tasks in connected apps based on the commands you give.
When you send requests via channels like Google Chat or Slack, the agent performs the tasks in the connected apps.
Agents can be custom-built or created using predefined templates for a faster setup.
1. Agent Setup
To create an agent from scratch, click [+ Create Agent] at the top of the screen.
On the Create Agent page, you can configure the agent’s settings:
1️⃣ Name : Assign a agent name that reflects the agent’s role, such as HR Bot or Scheduler Bot.
2️⃣ Start with a Template: Start from the predefined templates for a easier setup. Recommended if you’re new to agent configuration.
3️⃣ Agent Guide: You can define the tasks the agent should handle and how it should assist you. More detailed instructions help the agent perform its role more accurately.
4️⃣ Share with Workspace Users: You can choose whether other users in your workspace can use the agent. Activating this option allows workspace members to apply the agent to their preferred channels. Workspace admins can predefine agents and distribute company wise to help teams get started quickly.
2. Connect Work Tools
You can connect your work tools and let Refinder carry out the commands sent through Slack or Google Chat.
Refinder supports integration with apps like Google Calendar, Google Drive, Jira, Confluence, and more, enabling complex tasks to be completed with a single chat.
1️⃣ Web Search: Enabling this option allow agents to search and summarize information from the web.
2️⃣ Action Tool List (MCP): You can Select the apps you want to connect from the list and integrate them.
3. Work Tool Setting
When connecting work tools, you can check the details of what each tool can do, select which account to connect, and enable or disable specific tasks for each tool.
You can also link connected apps after connecting channels (Google Chat/Slack).
Once the setup is complete, click [Create Agent] button at the bottom right to finish settings.
4. Connect Channel
Channel is platforms like Slack or Google Chat where you actually input commands.
Select the service you want to connect and follow the instructions.
※ Slack connection is temporarily unavailable but will be support soon.
1️⃣ Google Chat integration
To use Refinder AI agent in Google Chat, the app must be installed.
Click [Connect @Refinder Bot to Google Chat] and then you will see 2 options.
If you are new to Refinder, please click the [Install Google Chat App] button and install the app.
One the app is installed, you will be able to start using Refinder AI agent.
2️⃣ Slack integration
Click [Connect @Refinder Bot to Slack] to integrate Refinder with Slack.
If no Slack workspace is logged in, enter the workspace address to connect and proceed with integration by click [Allow] button.
Configure Channel
1️⃣ Google Chat
When you first use the Refinder AI agent in a Google Chat channel, you’ll see a message prompting you to choose which agents and work tools to connect.
Click [Get Started] button in the message.
Then, a list of available agents in your workspace will appear. Simply select the one you want to connect.
Once all steps are completed, your setup is finished.
Now you can perform various tasks across connected apps with just a single chat.
